![]() The third one fails! After fiddling with it for the last hour the Harmony app has crashed about 10 times, I've had to put the remote into Safe Mode 3 times which then requires the app to function without crashing while a verbose utility plays the blow by blow, which is comforting at least. Then go back into the XMC-2 Menu and repeat the process with each other Input command needing to be programmed.Īfter programming one input, it works. Then with the Harmony app, go to Devices, Add Fix Command, InputAnalog1, Right-Arrow, Right-Arrow, Right-Arrow, then aim the XMC-2 Remote at the bottom of the Harmony Remote and press Button-7 normally, and repeat pressing it at different angles, length of time, etc, until the Harmony app responds. I programmed Button-7 on the XMC-2 Remote to be Analog 1. Just started playing with it this afternoon. I hadn't gotten that far with this new remote since reading that info from Harmony, so THANKS! for the kick in the butt. Word to the wise, if you’ve had to do this once, you’ll probably have to do it again, keep this procedure handy. Navigate to NETWORK & ACCESSORIES (now Network & Internet)Īfter doing this the TV should display a code on the screen for you to re-register your Harmony. Deregistering the Harmony from your TV will display the registration numberĤ. Here’s how to un-register and re-register a display, these steps are for Sony, but may be similar for other brands with IP control, also your model may be slightly different. Occasionally it seems to lose the permissions or pairing it gives you to control it, they call it registration, the common symptom is that the TV doesn’t turn on with an activity, but everything else works. I’ll start by adding a procedure I have to use now and then with my Sony TV, which uses Harmony Hub IP based control. I’m sure we can help each other out here, Also have an IR based 900 in the bedroom. At a minimum, you will have to use it for the pairing and possibly some custom button mapping, in my case.Great idea LC! I use a Harmony Ultimate Home Hub based remote for my main system, and I added the Hub Extender for mostly ZWave home automation. In conclusion, the more setup you can do from the phone app, the better it seems to work. But, it seems to be getting better, now that I have used the “fix it” function a few times…as if it is “learning.” Or, maybe I’m crazy, and it is simply very intermittent. That said, about 50% of the time, my receiver either doesn’t start or doesn’t shut down properly, with the “on” and “off” commands. Now, after much trial, error, and frustration, everything works as it should. For some very odd reason, the direction buttons would lose their assignments every time I updated from the computer app (on the phone app, they are actually highlighted as being unassigned). Ultimately, I figured out that I needed to go to the “Program Buttons” function on the PHONE APP, not the computer app, to manually map those specific buttons. But, as I described above, the direction pad buttons would not function, though everything else worked fine. I believe I went into: *Device (Chromecast) *Settings. The Elite remote would send the prompt, “You must use the Harmony app to pair this device,” anytime I pressed a button. I figured out the BT pairing, after fumbling through the Harmony app on my phone. I cured this by adding a USB-C hub with Ethernet, which gave me Gigabit connectivity along with external USB storage. The only problem I had was poor Wi-Fi reception as it was hidden behind my AV Receiver. The new Chromecast is an amazing little device which I definitely recommend. However, it seems to send those commands over Bluetooth as the Harmony couldn’t pick them up. The front of the new Chromecast remote looks like it has an IR sender, so I tried to teach the commands for Netflix and You Tube to the Harmony. It will appear as a Harmony Keyboard, so choose that and connect. Start the new Activity on the Harmony and follow the prompts. You will see that the Chromecast is searching for accessories. Scroll down to Remotes & accessories and choose Pair remote or accessory. To pair the Harmony with Chromecast, go to your Chromecast account name on the top right and choose settings. You should then be able to setup an Activity with the device. Tap on + Device and then choose Entertainment Device.įor Device Manufacturer enter “Google” and for Model Number enter “Chromecast with Google TV” - without the quotes. Open the Harmony app on your phone or tablet (this doesn’t work with the Windows program), tap on Devices and Edit Devices. It uses Bluetooth to communicate, so the hub needs to be in range of the Chromecast. Logitech has added support for the new Google Chromecast with Google TV on Harmony Hub remotes.
